Become a TeleCheck Volunteer
TeleCheck Volunteers call Distress Centre clients for a 10 minute check-in to ensure their safety, provide medication & appointment reminders, and community referrals as needed.
Shifts are 4 hours each on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and 4:00 to 8:00 pm. You choose the shift that best suits your schedule.
TeleCheck Volunteer Responsibilities:
Attend our 1 day training workshop.
Obtain a Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Provide check-in calls to Distress Centre clients in accordance with the policies and guidelines learned in the training workshop.
Volunteer for at least 1 year, completing 12 hours each month (for a total of 144 hours), and 2 shifts each month in subsequent years.
Be reliable in fulfilling your shift commitment.
Attend ongoing training and workshops provided by the Centre.
